Course Syllabus
- TITLE OF COURSE: PE1651 - Weight Training and Jogging
- COURSE DESCRIPTION: One credit hour. Two hours lab per week. This course is a graduated program of weight lifting and jogging designed to
improve flexibility, muscle tone and cardiovascular efficiency. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.
- PROGRAM AND DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT: The SCCC/ATS physical education program will broaden the understanding of fitness for life by providing general education, appropriate technology, and professional development opportunities that promote a healthy lifestyle.

gained to real life situations.

- To realize weight training and jogging can be a life long activity.
- Demonstrate proper lifting techniques/safety and weight room etiquette.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of resting heart rate, target heart rate, and maximum heart rate.

- Program Planning:
- Combined stretching, weight training and jogging for the individual.
- Periodic checks
- Post-testing:

- Present to class the proper lifting technique of a pre-determined amount of lifts.

- METHODS OF ASSESSMENT: Methods of assessing the general course outcomes and the specific course competencies
- SCCC/ATS Instructional Outcome #1 will be assessed and measured by testing their
comprehension of rules, terminology, and safety in weight training.
- SCCC/ATS Instructional Outcome #6 will assessed and measured by class participation and attendance.
